On 21st of July 2023, the parliamentary council of the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Dormaa Campus called for the first sitting of the semester. The house was expected to sit on the SRC week celebration budget. But according to a notice issued by parliament on 22nd of July at exactly 9:58 am shows that the parliament adjourned the sitting.
The notice further explained that the house has been disrespectful by the financial secretary on the grounds that he was 2hrs late to parliament.
The Members of parliament seems uncomfortable with the relationship between the Legislature and the Executive arm of the SRC. According to some members of parliament the budget should have been presented the house a at least two weeks before the SRC week celebration but the budget was brought to parliament three days to activities.
Despite the fact that the budget was not approved, the SRC executives already published a series of activities to occur during the SRC week celebration. Meanwhile the budget accordingly to the constitution must be read and approved before anything of such will happen.The students interest counts but the legal procedures also matter.
