The Kintampo Waterfalls is never affected by galamsey activities. The video that went viral indicating that the waterfalls has been affected by galamsey activities is neither here nor there.
First and foremost, let me state it emphatically that there is no single galamsey site in the Kintampo North Municipality. This makes the content of the video a complete fallacy and erroneous.
Moreover, any indigent of Kintampo knows that in the rainy season, the water overflows its banks due to the inflow from the Pumpum river and other water bodies around the municipality.
In addition, the construction of bridge at the Pumpum river on the Kintampo-Prang road has also affected the colour of the river hence changing it from its original state. It is the same river that flows to the Kintampo Waterfalls hence causing the significant change of the falls especially the colour. The colour of the water has nothing to do with galamsey activity and tourists can still utilize the falls as it has been always.
We entreat all media houses to refrain from showing or playing such fake video to avoid any legal actions from the law. Any media house that goes contrary to this notice, will be facing the law rigorously.
