The Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education-Ghana (PRINCOF) has expressed its sympathies to the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage and donated GH¢20,000 #Relief4LowerVolta campaign, which aims to provide relief to the affected people.
Led by its national president, Professor Samuel Awinkene Atintono, PRINCOF in a statement dated October 26 bemoaned the consequences the dam spillage is having on teaching and learning in the affected areas and appealed to the Ghana Education Service to adopt remote learning methods in the interim to make up for the lost contact hours.
“We are particularly worried that this unfortunate incident has disrupted teaching and learning as some schools have been affected by the floods resulting into the displacement of both students and teachers. We appeal to the Ghana Education Service to adopt the emergency remote teaching approaches that we used during the Covid-19 Pandemic to mitigate the loss of teaching hours.”
We are making a donation of GHS20,000.00 as our widow’s mite to support the victims. We therefore, further appeal to all well-meaning Ghanaians including corporate institutions, churches, development partners, NGOs, unions, associations, and philanthropists to support the victims in cash, kind, and prayers,” Professor Atintono further called on others to support the campaign.
Below is PRINCOF’s statement.
