The Parliamentary council of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Dormaa Campus after adjourning sitting over the SRC week celebration budget on Friday 21st July 2023 again resume sitting to deliberate on the items in the proposed budget. According to our respondent, the meeting once scheduled to happen around 3:00PM was postponed to 5:00PM due to some reasons.
The sitting started at exactly 6pm after several hours of waiting for the SRC financial secretary. And he never showed up. The parliamentarians were left in the vacuum. Therefore Parliament led by Rt. Hon. Boadum Fredrick Wiafe said that since no budget has been read to parliament, no SRC week celebration will happen until a budget is approved for the celebrations by parliament in accordance with Article 45 of the SRC constitution. According to him should any SRC week celebration happen, then it means it has been sponsored by an outsider otherwise than the funds from the SRC coffers. He was seconded by Hon Agbelekusi Justice.
