Winchester Scholarship Foundation - Apply Now

The Winchester Foundation is a scholarship program that helps underprivileged young people in the area pay for the extra expenses that all students in the rural areas must incur for their supplementary education.

The John & Beryl Neilsen Winchester Foundation was created in 2011 by Mrs. Beryl Neilsen as a public foundation. The selected applicant will receive a scholarship to help with the expense of their education.

These scholarships are offered to people attending secondary, primary, and trade school as well as those pursuing tertiary degrees.

Why the winchester scholarship foundation was created

The Winchester Foundation was established for the following reasons:

  1. Its establishment was primarily driven by the desire to support rural and regional children and youth in their educational endeavors. In terms of various levels of education, Mrs. Neilsen wants to see rural and regional families offered the same chances as metropolitan families.

  1. The selected applicant will receive a scholarship to help with the expense of their education. These scholarships are offered to people attending secondary, primary, and trade school as well as those pursuing tertiary degrees.

  1. The foundation, which is a Registered Public Foundation, is able to collect tax-deductible contributions, which it will subsequently distribute to people who most need help to advance their professions.

  1. In addition to being successful in their academic activities, Mrs. Neilsen hopes scholarship recipients would maintain a lifelong connection with the Foundation. Additionally, this will serve as an enduring tribute to her late husband, herself, and their house, "Winchester."

Winchester Foundation Scholarship advantages

Each year, $5,000 is given to scholarship recipients by the Winchester foundation. As a result, the student may utilize the money to attend any approved two- or four-year university of their choosing.

Additionally, the pupils will receive individualized support. They will also receive mentorship and career resources to aid them in pursuing their chosen careers.

How to Apply for a Winchester Foundation Scholarship

You must be a high school senior and have been accepted into an undergraduate program at a recognized institution in order to be eligible to apply for the scholarship. The procedures to apply for the Winchester Foundation Scholarship are listed below.

The dates for each application period are May 15 through June 30, 2023. Starting early is advised. Please allow yourself time to organize this as the application requires information from the applicant, the applicant's family, and the applicant's selected school.

students in high school

  • Complete the WHITE FORM's questions 1 through 9 and 16. (Aid Application). Attach copies of any Forms W-2 you have received, as well as any Forms 1040 you have filed. A helpful tip is to complete everything well in advance so that your parents can finish their section and return it to the Chairperson ahead of schedule, but under no circumstances after the due date.

  • As soon as you are certain of the school you'll attend, complete your section of the YELLOW FORM (Report by Institution Student Will Attend). Rush the YELLOW FORM to the aid officer at that school and request that it be returned to the Chairperson before the deadline (unless you have received a "denial" letter”). The sooner you submit your YELLOW FORM so we can review your aid application, the better. It is your responsibility to make sure that your elected college returns this YELLOW FORM to us.

College students

  • the WHITE FORM (Aid Application), complete sections 1 through 9 and question 16, and attach originals or copies of your W-2 and tax returns. Give your parents the WHITE FORM early if they are divorcing or separated so they have time to fill it out and send it to the right person.

  • As soon as all of the grades for the entire year are available, order an official transcript and ask your registrar to transmit it right away to the Chairperson so that it gets there no later than June 30. You are responsible for making sure we get this transcript by the due date.

  • Send the filled-out section of the YELLOW FORM (Report by Institution Student Will Attend) to the aid officer at the school you plan to attend in the following academic year. It is your responsibility to see that the YELLOW FORM is filed by no later than June 30, and that this requirement is complied with.

  • The Committee will also let you know what it decides by August 31.
